gnucash and gnome

I won't repeat what the others have said.

I too run KDE.  I install both KDE and GNOME.  Even then, I need to install 
quite a few of those dependencies.  Mostly I use the Mandriva RPM, and the 
dependencies are taken care of.   I have no experience of the Gentoo portage 
system, but it should be as good.  Are you worried about disk space?

Gnucash isn't the only app that runs under GTK.  My impression is that more 
free software is written for Gnome dependencies than for KDE (leaving out 
what is on KDE's own site, and most of that is cosmetic.)
