Extremely long .xac file name

I have tried searching for an answer on this, but failed - although I may be
using the wrong search string!

Anyway - my question is about the length of my .xac filenames. My latest one
is

translog.20050428101306.log.20051227095646.xac.20060901215500.xac.20061025130531.xac.20061109162644.xac.20070423190739.xac.20071029090835.xac.20080413212035.xac

All the previous names are in the same style.

Is this normal? Or does my system have a problem?  Or does the user have a
user-ability problem?! It's rather annoying that I can't display the whole
names in the directory on a 23" monitor! :o

In all other respects the app is working properly.

FYI: I'm running GnuCash ver. 2.2.1 under Ubuntu 7.10.
