Going from F7 to F8

Ok, I'm really confused. This morning I booted my F7 install and ran a
transaction report from the beginning of time, expecting to have a very long
day of going through what was showing up when I was running F8. When I
rebooted to F8, I first started GnuCash-2.2.0 and it came up fine, no neg.
bala. I then closed and started GnuCash-2.2.4 and again it came up fine, no
neg. bal. I'm now a happy but confused camper. I am open to any theories of
what happened as I'm not a software person, being from the hardware world,
besides Gremlins of course.
